For wanting to hit the local auto salvage yards, buy parts off of Swedish cars, and other more random things in their yards and make an attempt to sell them online and make a few bucks?
I had minimal success on ebay in the past with some parts of an IH Travelall, but am I crazy for thinking I could use this to do some sort of supplement to my income?

best way to do it is to buy whole parts cars and strip them

This I know, but I don't have the space, by a long shot, to stash full cars.

Buy it. Strip it. Have someone take the shell away.

If you don't have the space, you're not going to like the results. To do this effectively you have to be able to sit on parts for lengthy times.

Best bet is to get in on that mechanic thing some junk yards have nowadays, where people pay you to pull parts locally and ship them out for them.

Ahhh, that makes sense, I mean, I have room for parts, my garage is fairly large, just not room for a full car if that makes sense.

Can you afford to invest in said parts for a lengthy time?

yeah probably. Better the money sit on parts instead of any number of other things I could blow my $ on

Its not entirely crazy. I took a hose off a 98 V70 for my 2000 V70. Turned out it didn't fit. Looked the hose up brand new its worth $90. This one was just replaced in the car..still had sticker on it. I paid $3. I sold it on CL for $30.

not bad, not at all. I don't even own a Swedish Car (have a 2013 Dart and a VW bus) but there seems to be lots of Volvos and Saabs, and by and large, their owners don't seem to suck as much as owners of some other cars which I would feel make them a bit easier to deal with

I've done this sort of this before, but I can't help but think about the guy who wanted to go to the scrap yard to get the part for his own car. Now he has to go online and get it for 10x as much.

Well I'm not looking to charge a ton for them, just to make a little extra $$

Meh. That don't bug me (I got to the scrap yard often) if someone is enterprising enough let them I say.
